Responsible for meaningful, gospel-centered, pastoral care services including a listening presence, care and support to residents, their families, and staff, with a special response to loneliness, anxiety, stress, pain, and grief.....

About St Faith’s Narrabeen:

The heart and vision of our community at St Faith’s Narrabeen is to see a Northern Beaches that knows Jesus by making disciples who grow to maturity in Christ for God’s glory. A key part of realising this vision is through active, church-connected ministry within two of our local aged care villages, including the RSL ANZAC Village (the 'War Vets').

The Position:

We are seeking to employ a godly and gifted Village Chaplain who, together with the Senior Chaplain and wider chaplaincy team, will be responsible for meaningful, gospel-centered, pastoral care services including a listening presence, care and support to residents, their families, and staff, with a special response to loneliness, anxiety, stress, pain, and grief.

Main Responsibilities:

As a summary, this chaplaincy role requires the candidate to:

  • Provide spiritual care and encouragement, ministering with compassion, empathy and care to residents and their family members, working sensitively in a multi-faith environment.
  • Conduct chapel services that offer meaningful, gospel focused encouragement and teaching on a Sunday morning for independent living residents.
  • Conduct occasional services (funerals), demonstrating care, understanding and comfort to family, friends and staff.
  • Participate in commemoration services for ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and others.
  • Meet regularly with other members of the pastoral care team (paid and volunteer) to encourage, train and direct members, as well as recruiting suitable new members.
  • A commitment to understand and follow the internal policies, industry standards and government regulations provided by RSL Life Care.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a mature and godly follower of Jesus.
  • Has a theological qualification from a reformed evangelical theological college.
  • Holds a Certificate IV in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or a Certificate / Diploma of Chaplaincy
  • Has experience leading volunteer teams and identifying, developing, and equipping leaders.
  • Can demonstrate a relational warmth and ability to work with people of mature age, preferably with experience in another aged-care chaplaincy situation.
  • Is well-organised and able to manage their time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with residents, their families, RSL staff, and the public.
  • Is keen to participate with the mission of our church to see a Northern Beaches that knows Jesus.

Remuneration is provided in accordance with the Anglican Church of Sydney’s guidelines for stipend and allowances. This is a full-time role with your ministry focus exclusively in the village, however, the role reports to the Senior Pastor of St Faith’s Anglican Church. There is also an opportunity to be housed in the RSL Lifecare Village which can be discussed with the Senior Pastor at the time of application.

Please provide a cover letter along with your resume in your application.
