Churches of Christ in NSW consists of a network of more than 60 churches that seek to be committed to the person and ways of Jesus, seeking to embody his ministry of restoration of all creation. We have around 4000 people in NSW and ACT who are part of this network. Our Network Resource Team work directly with the leaders of this network – strengthening the pastoral and governance leaders, supporting churches through training and development, and encouraging the ongoing growth of a vibrant, interdependent group of churches who participate in God’s work in their communities.
About the role
In this newly created role, the Administrator/Bookkeeper will collaborate closely with the Finance Manager, providing essential accounts and administrative support to ensure smooth finance processes.
Located at our modern Rhodes office, with the added advantage of flexible hours and the possibility to work from home part of the time.
Responsibilities
- Accounts payable - cross-checking approvals, inputting to Xero, and processing payments.
- Accounts receivable – raising and distributing invoices, recording payments, chasing debtors.
- Monitoring accounts mailbox and responding to queries.
- Reconciling accounts and maintaining financial records
- Processing of annual Affiliation fees to our churches
- Processing of annual cofC group CCLI fees.
- Processing Event registration finances.
- Processing company card transactions and reconciling in Xero.
- Managing company fuel cards.
- Ledger reporting and monitoring.
- Assisting Finance Manager with month-end and year-end close (including audit support).
- Develop and maintain accounts procedures.
- Other administrative support tasks as required.
What you’ll bring
- A Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or similar qualification.
- Prior experience in bookkeeping roles.
- Experience with Xero is desirable.
- Intermediate computer software skills across the Microsoft suite, including proficiency with Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with other staff, Treasurers, Pastors, and Volunteers in churches and ministry organisations.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with church processes is an advantage.
- A Christian faith and involvement in a local church community.
- Willingness to promote the vision, mission, and values of the churches of Christ NSW & ACT and its activities.
